Automotive ISO/TS 16949:2009 certified cores from Magnetics Inc

Automotive ISO TS 16949:2009 certified cores from MagneticsMagnetics Inc are now certified to the automotive standard ISO/TS 16949:2009. This certification is only granted to suppliers with quality system processes which include continual improvement, defect prevention and a reduction in variation and waste in the supply chain. All processes must meet the exacting standards required for automotive manufactures or applications.

ISO/TS 16949:2009 is a collection of common automotive quality system requirements and is based on ISO 9001:2008 certification. ISO/TS 16949:2009 was developed by a collaboration of International Automotive Task Force (IATF) members* and brings the additional specific requirements of the demanding automotive sector under one, clear certification.

ISO/TS 16949:2009 has been approved and published by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and ensures suppliers meet the requirements of the automotive industry.

To achieve the certification, supply chain members must prove they have continual improvement processes in place, which looks to ensure the components available are of the latest generation, enabling greater development within the industry. Magnetics continually develops and improves all of its product lines, bringing new materials to market on a regular basis.

ISO_TS_16949-2009Members must also show their defect prevention processes, which actively reduce the risk of component failure. Magnetics’ mature production methods have successfully seen products and materials integrated into demanding applications in multiple sectors, including automotive, oil and gas, medical as well as military and defence, where material quality and reliability is essential to the application.

Finally, a supplier must reduce variation and waste in the supply chain. Magnetics uses control plans to establish process limits for manufacturing. The Six Sigma methodology provides the means to measure data, make adjustments and improve control limits. Yield analysis using Pareto Charts highlight any areas requiring improvement, and improvement efforts are addressed using multi-functional Quality Teams.

Magnetics ISO/TS 16949:2009 certification was granted on 12 June 2016 and is valid until 14 September 2018. You can download the ISO/TS 16949:2009 certificate here.
