Surface Resistance Meters
Supplier: Trek Inc. (Advanced Energy)
Technology type: Resistivity Instruments and Testers
Trek has developed surface/ volume resistance devices for measuring resistance on conductive, dissipative, and insulative materials.
These measurements are in accordance with ANSI/ESD standards for garments (STM2.1), worksurfaces (S4.1), flooring (S7.1), footwear (STM9.1), planar materials (STM11.11), volume resistance (STM11.12 and IEC 61340-2-3), seating (STM12.1) and two-point resistance measurements (STM11.13).
152-1 resistance meter
Model 152-1 features exceptional measurement accuracy and the wide measurement ranges of 103 to 1013 ohms using point-to-point probes or the two-point resistance probe, and 104 to 1014 ohms/square using Trek’s concentric ring probe. Measured resistance or resistivity values are clearly displayed on a high-contrast LCD display using scientific notation. The electrode voltage for the measurement probe(s) is selectable for 10V or 100V operation to conform to the individual requirements of the ANSI/ESD Association standards and testing conditions. The selected test voltage is indicated on the LCD display.
Trek’s 152P-CR concentric ring measuring probe contains a preamplifier which eliminates the usual noise, stray pickup, and long settling time associated with other type probe designs, therefore providing ease of operation even at very high resistivity values. Model 152-1 is lightweight and portable and can be operated from internal batteries or connected to an AC line power source using an optional battery eliminator.
291 resistance meter
Model 291 fills the void between lower performance, albeit slightly lower cost, and high-end, more expensive test instruments. This pocket-sized meter has parallel metal contact rails and jacks for connections to external electrodes or ground. Using a single 9-volt alkaline battery, the unit automatically generates a test voltage of either 10V or 100V. Simply place the instrument on a flat surface (2 inches by 25/8 inches or larger) of material to be tested, press the button, and read the results from the multi-coloured LED display. It comes with a carrying case, ground lead, and calibration certificate.
The image shows contact rails on the base of the instrument. To measure the surface resistivity of a flat sample of material, simply place the instrument on the material so that these rails are in contact with the material and press the TEST button.
